IRA Charitable Rollover

A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), sometimes called an IRA charitable rollover, is a simple and tax-efficient way to support The American Chestnut Foundation’s mission to restore the American chestnut to its native range.

If you are age 70½ or older, you can make a tax-free gift directly from your traditional IRA to TACF. For individuals age 73 and older who are required to take annual Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs), a QCD can count toward satisfying all or part of that requirement.

Qualified Charitable Distributions can help reduce your taxable income while making an immediate impact on chestnut restoration efforts. Because the distribution goes directly from your IRA to TACF, it is generally excluded from your taxable income.

QCDs can be made as one-time gifts or recurring distributions. Current law allows eligible donors to contribute up to the annual IRS limit through qualified charitable distributions.

Your gift will support innovative restoration science, conservation orchards, field testing, and the long-term work needed to return the American chestnut to eastern forests.

If you are considering a Qualified Charitable Distribution, please consult your financial advisor or tax professional* to determine how this giving strategy may benefit you.
