Nicaragua Trip August 28 - September 7

by Ramesh Naraine

Four of us from TACF went down to Nicaragua from August 28th to September 7th, 2005. We had an exceptional time of ministry on this trip. We conducted three encounter retreats with the leadership of the churches that are overseen by Arturo Sanchez, our primary contact in Nicaragua. The Spirit of the Lord was moving wonderfully as the people we were ministering to were so open and hungry for more of Him.

As we shared some of the core values of TACF, such as the Father Heart of God, the Importance of Forgiveness, Intimacy with God and Hearing His Voice, The Power of the Cross, etc., you could see the hearts being touched and softened by the presence of the Holy Spirit. For example, during one of the ministry times one of the pastors, as he was on the floor, had a vision of the paw of a lion coming down upon his chest and resting there, then it changed into the hand of a human father. That spoke volumes to him of how the Father wanted him to see God not only as the fearsome Lion of the Tribe of Judah but also as his tender Heavenly Daddy. What we cannot do even with a million words the Holy Spirit did with one simple vision, which was a glorious revelation!

We also found that the people were powerfully impacted by the prophetic. They didn’t seem to have a model of the prophetic that was life-giving, uplifting and loving because when Elsie prophesied over them they were all deeply impacted. Several of the testimonies that they shared spoke about how specifically and encouragingly the Holy Spirit was ministering to them through the prophetic words they received. One shy young lady was so encouraged and emboldened by a word the Lord spoke to her about evangelism that she that same night led 10 people to the Lord!!

It stuck me that being in this environment of renewal, revival and the presence of the Holy Spirit in Toronto we can easily forget just how blessed and privileged we are as a church!

We also saw a number of people receive physical healing, primarily pain leaving their bodies. We did pray for folks with cancer, leukemia and other forms of internal illness and are waiting for reports of how the Lord healed those as well.

In addition to the encounters, we also visited one of the orphanages that TACF is supporting. We had taken a hockey bag full of little gift bags for the 15 children and some items for their “parents”. It was a delight to see them appreciate these gifts. They were surprisingly well behaved and immediately began sharing their gifts among themselves. They really are delightful and precious kids.

We also visited the site of another orphanage which TACF is helping to construct for the older kids ages 14-18. The orphanage is on a farm so in addition to academics they will receive from public school they will learn practical skills and trades that will help them find jobs when they finish school and have to leave the orphanage.

Many thanks for your prayers; they are highly valued. We plan to have ongoing mission trips to Nicaragua so if you are interested in going on one please let me know ( , or 416 674 8463 x2247)

Blessings.
